Some really good porformances.
Good support from parents.
Recently, the Elite and A'squad traveled up to the Midlands to compete at the Central England Karate Championships. We were short of our usual Elite squad as most of them were recovering from exams, however the rest of the squad made sure they took home some medals for the SEKF.
First to medal was Alesio Sebis who fought amazing and won his final 8 - 0 showing he was a class above the rest, this followed with the medal man himself Zak Smyth winning four fights and then just losing 2-1 in the final to earn a well deserved silver. I cannot remember the last time Zak Smyth came home without a medal. Patchouli Phillips was unlucky in the kata but made up for it in the Kumite winning a bronze medal after four hard fights. The team event followed which consisted of competitors from five different categories which made for an interesting change. The team line was Joe Grimwood, Holly Gilbert, Tom Moore and Danny, however we did not have a female fighter and to had to forfeit one fight in each round. Our team fought really well together and with the support from the other squad members and parents, earned a very good silver medal. The most memorable bout was watching Tom Moore sweep his opponent one way then the other followed by my favorite sweep which earned him a great three points. Well done everyone, a great day!
