On Sunday 25th May 2014, we held our first ever combined fun run and summer fete to help raise funds for our SEKF squad. We were very lucky with the weather as the sun was shinning after a few days of rain, however the New Forest was another story. Danny led the runners along with the help of the mentors into some rather wet, yet exciting terrain and after a slightly muddy fun run, they all returned hungry looking forward to the complimentary barbecue that Scott had prepared with the help of our very own celebrity chef from the Chianti restaurant, Alberto.
After the barbecue it was time to open the summer fete which included various stalls, coconut shy, beat the goalkeeper, toss the horseshoe, hit the cans to name a few, yet the main event of the fete was sponge the instructor as all the students lined up with glee ready to throw their sponges as hard as they could at their nominated instructor or mentor.
A great day was had by all and to finish off there was tea and home made cakes to enjoy served up by our own enthusiastic parents.
I would like to thank everyone who helped out with this event as it was a real team effort. Thanks to Danny and the mentors who helped with the fun and fete, along with the parents who helped with the stalls and contributed their home made cakes and thanks to Wendy's mum for making a fantastic SEKF cake for the raffle. Also thanks to everyone who helped prepare the fete especially Scott who worked close with me in the organisation by making and preparing all the stalls before hand to make this such a successful fundraising event. Well done everyone!
Once we have had all the sponsor forms back I will announce how much we raised for the SEKF squad in the club newsletter.
