Congratulations Team SEKF after their success at the British International Open Karate Championships...
The SEKF elite squad travelled up to Scotland with coaches Sensei Collin Rudkin 6th Dan and Sensei Nick Issacson, to compete in the British International Open Karate Championships.
It was a tough weekend. However, our squad managed an amazing 3 Silver medals.
Twelve years old, Carla Rudkin-Guillen, was on form and after completing five great rounds she managed to win a Silver medal in the -14 Yrs Female Kata category. Carla also competed in the -14 yrs Kumite, (Fighting) just losing out for bronze after four tough rounds.
Ethan Stonton, also twelve years old, performed very well and won a Silver medal in the -14 Yrs Male Kata category after five intense rounds.
Ethan was also part of the Pairs Kata Team along with Adam Barnes who won a Silver medal in the Male Cadet Kata category.
James Arnold, our English champion was unfortunatley disqualified on this occasion for contact. However, he was fighting well.
All the athletes trained non stop over the summer holiday period and their dedication paid off.
Well done to everyone and thanks to Sensei Nick Issacson for assisting me at the weekend. Thanks Sensei Danny Rudkin for helping to prepare our squad and finally, thanks Fran Salazar for mentoring Carla.
TEAM SEKF!
