On the weekend 25th/26th June '11, I travelled up to Sheffield with a few well prepared A' Squad members of the Southern England Karate Federation (SEKF) karate squad, for the British Karate Championships.
We arrived late Saturday afternoon at the 4 star Novotel hotel and after a lovely dinner and a nice stroll around Sheffield City Centre, we turned in for an early night.
After arriving at the Ponds Forge leisure Centre on Sunday morning all the squad members went through their competition preparation in a relaxed and positive manner. The Men's team which consisted of Myself, Danny Rudkin, Chris Jones, Dale Carmichael and Zeke Dunford fought well and just missed out on a Bronze medal.
In the Individuals Danny fought very well managing a hard earned Bronze medal in the Men's -75 kilos, Danny was the top England competitor as Scotland and Wales were 1st & 2nd. Chris Jones also fought very well, managing to win bronze in the heavy weight division...Well done guys.
This was a good day for the SEKF squad and added to the Men's Team Silver we won the week before at the BKA Nationals.

the competition was good fun, i just had the bad luck of being drawn against the silver medalist in the european championships.
