British International Success

Congratulations to Team SEKF for their great success at the British International Championships....One Gold and two silvers medals.

Our seven elite athletes trained very hard in preperation for this event, which already showed the previous week at the BIKO champioships.

After a long drive to Edinburgh, the team were up for an early night. However, In the morning our refreshed athletes were enthusiastic and ready to compete. Carla Rudkin-Guillen was first to achieve for the SEKF, winning a fantastic silver medal in the 10-11 years kata category, losing in the final by only one flag. This really encouraged the rest of the squad and it was not long before Elliott Lowman added to the medal haul by winning the 11 years kumite category in style, becoming the British International Champion. At the end of the first day, we had two medals out of five competitors. Ethan Stonton, Alessio Sebis and James Arnold all competed very well, but did not manage medals on this occasion.

On day two, Zak Smyth competed in the cadet kata, winning his first round 5-0. However, on this occasion he did not manage a medal. Louis Naraine found his form again and after some hard fights won a great silver medal in the the 16/17 years kumite category.

I was very proud to coach the elite athletes as they all performed with a great professional attitude. Well Done everyone!

Finally, Thanks to Alan and Dave for helping out over the weekend and Danny Rudkin for assisting in the preparation of our athletes.

A great team effort as always!
